How to get to Primavera Sound Porto 2026: complete transport guide

FestivalLynx8 min

Primavera Sound Porto 2026 runs at Parque da Cidade from 11 to 14 June. For most people, the main option to get there is Metro do Porto's Blue Line A to Matosinhos Sul. The other options depends on your arrival time and where you need to be at 02:00. This guide compares five modes, offers a decision matrix by traveller profile, and focuses on what the Primavera Sound Porto guide doesn't cover: the late-night strategy out of the venue.

Where to stay for Primavera Sound Porto 2026 → Four neighbourhoods compared with prices, distance to the venue and the late-night commute trade-offs.

Verified for the 2026 edition (11–14 June) on April 2026. Reinforced timetables from Metro do Porto and STCP are typically published around three weeks before the festival. We update this guide as soon as Metro do Porto and STCP confirm the 2026 reinforcement.

Festival reinforcement times are 2025 carry-forward, to be re-verified once Primavera Sound, Metro do Porto, CP and STCP publish the 2026 plan around 3 weeks before the festival.

2. How to arrive based on your starting point

Five common situations. Find yours and skip to that section.

"I'm landing at Porto airport and going straight to the festival." Take Line E (Violet) to Senhora da Hora, change to Line A (Blue) towards Senhor de Matosinhos, exit at Matosinhos Sul. About 40–45 minutes door-to-door, including the transfer and the walk to the gates. If you land after 00:30, take a Bolt or Uber — the last Line E train leaves at 00:42.

"I'm staying in central Porto (Aliados, Boavista, Foz)." Line A is the default. From Foz, if you're up to a walk, walking the seafront takes 45 minutes and enjoyable on a dry evening. More details in section 5.

"I'm coming from Lisbon." Take the Alfa Pendular or Intercidades to Porto Campanhã. From Campanhã, take Line A directly to Matosinhos Sul. Driving (A1, ~3h) and FlixBus / Rede Expressos coaches (~3h30–4h) are the alternatives. See section 4 for full comparison.

"I'm coming from Spain." Driving from Madrid (~6 hours via A6/A52) is the most flexible option. From Galicia, the regional CP Celta train into Campanhã plus Line A takes you to the venue.

"It's 02:00 and I want to get back to my hotel." Plan A: festival shuttle from Praça Cidade Salvador — two routes within Porto, one to Aliados (every ~10 min until 04:00, best for centre, Baixa, Boavista) and one to Campanhã (every ~22 min until 04:00, near the station). Plan B: Bolt or Uber with surge. Plan C: walk back to Foz along the seafront. Details in section 5.

3. From Porto airport to Parque da Cidade, step by step

Porto airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro) is 40–45 minutes door-to-door from the venue by metro, with one transfer at Senhora da Hora and a short walk to the venue.

  1. Buy an Andante Azul card from the airport vending machines (€0.60) and a Z4 title (€2.30).
  2. Board Line E (Violet) towards Estádio do Dragão.
  3. Ride 12 minutes to Senhora da Hora.
  4. Change platforms (lifts available) for Line A (Blue) towards Senhor de Matosinhos.
  5. Ride 13 minutes to Matosinhos Sul. Exit and walk around 10 minutes to the venue.

Total time is around 40–45 minutes and costs €2.90 (card + Z4) on the first trip and €2.30 thereafter.

By taxi or Bolt / Uber

20–30 minutes door-to-door off-peak (including app wait time) and as of April 2026, the cost is around €8.71 on Bolt and €8.99 on Uber. Praça Cidade Salvador is the operational drop-off reference until the festival publishes a dedicated Bolt / Uber zone.

If you arrive after 00:30

The last regular Line E train to Senhora da Hora is at 00:42 on weekdays. After that, the last westbound Line A has finished. Only Bolt, Uber or a taxi work. Expect late-night surge on festival nights closer to €15–€20.

4. From Lisbon, the central corridor, Spain and the North

From Lisbon, Coimbra and Aveiro

All three cities sit on the A1 motorway and CP's rail line. Below you can find a comparison showing the different options, with schedules and prices.

OriginAlfa Pendular (2nd class)Intercidades (2nd class)Bus (FlixBus / Rede Expressos)Car (A1)
Lisbon~2h48, €35.70~3h13, €28.05~3h30–4h, €15–€25~2h45–3h00, ~313 km
Coimbra~1h15, €19.70~1h22, €15.25~1h15–1h35, €5–€15~1h30, ~120 km
Aveiro~30–35 min, €17.00~35–45 min, €13.55~45 min – 1h, €5–€10~45 min, ~75 km

Schedule and fares verified displayed were checked against providers (e.g. CP, Flixbus, Rede Expressos) in April 2026. Bus fares change with how far in advance you book. Add ~€22 in tolls to the Lisbon–Porto A1 trip, ~€10–€12 from Coimbra and ~€5 from Aveiro.

From the North (Braga, Guimarães, Viana do Castelo) and other cities

All three cities reach Campanhã via CP's northern network. The operationally useful connections are the Porto Urban (Urbano) trains for Braga and Guimarães and InterRegional / IC / CP Celta for Viana.

For estimated time and cost from Braga, Guimarães, Viana do Castelo and other Portuguese cities check the How to get there section in the Primavera Sound Porto guide. Select your origin city under "Coming from" for time, and cost.

From Spain

Driving from Madrid (~6 hours via A6/A52) is the most flexible option. FlixBus or Alsa overnight (~9–10 hours, €25–€55) is the cheapest. Direct Madrid–Porto flights via TAP, Iberia or Ryanair (~1h15, €60–€180) plus the section 3 route work for short weekends. From Galicia, CP Celta into Campanhã is the most efficient (~3 hours from Vigo, ~€15). No direct train runs Madrid–Porto.

5. The late-night return strategy

Primavera headliners typically end between 01:00 and 02:00. Most of the crowd exit between 02:30 and 03:30. Three viable routes home.

Plan A — The festival shuttle

Two routes from Praça Cidade Salvador, both within Porto (2025 data — to be re-verified for 2026)

  • Aliados every ~10 min from 23:30 to 04:00, best for guests in the historic centre, Baixa, Sé, Bolhão or Boavista.
  • Campanhã (TIC) every ~22 min from 00:30 to 04:00, best for guests near the station or connecting to a late train.

Cost: standard Andante Z2 (€1.40) or Tour 1 24-hour (€7.75) if you have one and boarding uses pre-validation.

Plan B — Bolt or Uber

Applying a 1.4×–1.8× surge multiplier for Praça Cidade Salvador → Aliados sample (€9.08 on Bolt, €10.97 on Uber as of April 2026), the post-event trip at 02:00 should land between €13 and €20. Surge typically applies between 02:00 and 03:30. Walking 5-10 min away from the venue exit before requesting a ride often drops the surge by one tier.

Insider tip. Bolt prices spike at 02:30, when headliners finish their act and most of the crowd leaves. If you can leave around 02:00, you might save €15–€20.

Plan C — Walking back to Foz

If you're staying in Foz or close, it takes around 45 minute walking along the seafront (Avenida do Brasil → Avenida Montevideu). Well-lit, flat, scenic and free.

What doesn't work after midnight

Regular metro service from Matosinhos Sul ends around 01:32. The airport-bound direction shuts down earlier. Bus 1M serves Aliados, not the airport.

Returning to Coimbra, Lisbon, Braga or other cities by train

As of now, it's not official there will be a reinforced schedule by CP during Primavera Sound Porto, so be aware regular CP services don't run through the night. The last trains leaving towards south are:

  • Intercidades ~19:45
  • Alfa Pendular to Lisbon ~20:45
  • Regional/Urbano ~01:08, not on Sundays

For northern cities the last schedule for trains leaving towards:

  • Viana do Castelo is ~22:10
  • Guimarães is ~23:25
  • Braga is ~00:55

If it's tight to get the last train home, plan to stay for the night in Porto and head back home well rested on the following day.

For festival weekend, CP and Metro do Porto historically agree late-night reinforcement, but it's only confirmed 2–3 weeks before.

We email you the 2026 updates when they are out

CP and Metro do Porto typically confirm festival night-line schedules ~3 weeks before the dates. One email when 2026 lands – nothing else.

6. Drive only if you need to

Parque da Cidade has no festival parking, and Praça Cidade Salvador and surrounding streets have restrictions to traffic during festival hours. The A28, A1 and A3 take you close to the venue, but the last 2km becomes a queue. If you must drive in, park at Casa da Música metro station (paid, supervised) and take Line A to Matosinhos. The other option is to park at Estádio do Dragão and take line A straight to the venue, takes around 50 min.

7. Accessibility and luggage

Accessibility. Line A and Line E have full lift access at every relevant station. Pedro Hispano and Matosinhos Sul have level platforms. The festival operates viewing platforms — know more about Accessibility on the Primavera Sound Porto guide. Wheelchair access on the night shuttle requires advance request through the festival.

Luggage. Large bags are not permitted inside the venue. Same-day arrivals can use the lockers at Trindade station (City Lockers). Hotel bag drop is the cleaner solution — most central hotels accept luggage from 10:00.

8. Frequently asked questions

How long does it take from the airport to the venue? 40–45 minutes door-to-door by metro. 20–30 minutes by Bolt or Uber off-peak.

What's the last metro after the festival? Line A runs until ~02:30 from Câmara de Matosinhos with festival reinforcement, according to 2025 data — to be re-verified once Metro do Porto publishes the 2026 plan.

Can I take a train back to Lisbon, Coimbra or Braga after the festival? Not on regular services for Lisbon — last Intercidades leaves Porto at ~19:45, last Alfa Pendular ~20:45, both well before headliners end. For Coimbra and Aveiro, there's a Regional/Urbano at 01:08 (does not run on Sunday). For the North, last train to Braga is 00:55, Guimarães 23:25, Viana do Castelo 22:10 — all daily.

How much does Bolt cost from the venue to the centre at 02:00? Applying 1.4×–1.8× surge to the off-peak sample (€9.08–€10.97 in April 2026), expect €13 to €20 between Praça Cidade Salvador and Aliados.

Is there parking at the festival? No. Parque da Cidade has no dedicated parking and surrounding streets have traffic restrictions during festival hours. Drive only as a last resort.

Is cycling an option? Yes. There's a dedicated bike park at the entrance. The seafront route from central Porto is flat and takes ~25 minutes.

Is the Andante Tour 3 worth it? For 3 or more days and 4 or more daily journeys, yes. €16.55 for 72 hours of unlimited metro, STCP buses, CP urban trains and includes the airport-to-venue routes.

Can I bring a backpack or suitcase to the festival? Backpacks yes, subject to size limits set by the festival each year. Suitcases no — use Trindade lockers or hotel bag drop.

Does Strike Tours run buses to Primavera Sound Porto? Yes. Strike Tours runs return coaches from several Portuguese cities, with the return trip after the concerts end each night. Check from which cities Strike tours depart to Primavera Sound Porto. The ticket covers transport only, not festival entry.
