Primavera Sound Porto takes over Parque da Cidade every June - Portugal's largest urban park, with its western edge meeting the Atlantic across from Matosinhos beach. Held since 2012 as the Portuguese sister to Barcelona, it runs a week later. Four days in 2026, around 90 artists across indie, alternative, electronic and hip-hop.
The crowd skews international indie, with Portuguese, Spanish and British travellers drawn to an unhurried pace. Sets start in the afternoon light, and the park's scale leaves room to sit on grass, find shade, and hear a conversation between songs. Roughly a third of attendees come from abroad, with Iberians filling the rest.
The festival was built as a "Primavera boutique", smaller and more intimate than Barcelona. Around 40,000 a day spread across the stages set into natural amphitheatres of park and pine. Sets run from mid-afternoon until dawn, with no on-site camping and Porto, the UNESCO-listed city is a short metro ride away.
