Primavera Sound Porto 2026

Parque da Cidade, Porto

Jun 11 until Jun 14, 2026

Primavera Sound Porto takes over Parque da Cidade every June - Portugal's largest urban park, with its western edge meeting the Atlantic across from Matosinhos beach. Held since 2012 as the Portuguese sister to Barcelona, it runs a week later. Four days in 2026, around 90 artists across indie, alternative, electronic and hip-hop.

The crowd skews international indie, with Portuguese, Spanish and British travellers drawn to an unhurried pace. Sets start in the afternoon light, and the park's scale leaves room to sit on grass, find shade, and hear a conversation between songs. Roughly a third of attendees come from abroad, with Iberians filling the rest.

The festival was built as a "Primavera boutique", smaller and more intimate than Barcelona. Around 40,000 a day spread across the stages set into natural amphitheatres of park and pine. Sets run from mid-afternoon until dawn, with no on-site camping and Porto, the UNESCO-listed city is a short metro ride away.

Which neighbourhood fits your trip: prices, distance to the venue, and the late-night commute trade-offs.

Beer

Reusable cups cost €1 each.

€5 - €6

Bifana · pork sandwich

If Conga is the on-site bifana vendor again in 2026 - as in 2025 - don't miss the chance. Widely ranked among Portugal's best bifana houses, it's one of the city's most typical petiscos and a genuine taste of Porto.

€5 - €6

Full meal

Over 40 food vendors cover francesinhas, cachorros, petiscos, pizzas, burgers and vegetarian/vegan options.

€11 - €21

Water / soft drinks

Free potable water refill points are available across the venue. You can bring in a 500 ml plastic bottle as long as it has no cap. Bottled drinks from stalls cost more.

€3 - €4

Card-only payments

Primavera Sound Porto accepts only card payments - debit/credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and MB WAY, with or without contactless. There are no ATMs inside the venue.

ZIG prepaid card

If you don't have a digital payment option, exchange cash for a prepaid ZIG card at the ZIG point inside the venue. Any remaining balance can be refunded online after the festival.

€1.00 (non-refundable)

Opening hours

The gates open at 15:30 from Thursday to Saturday, and at 14:00 on Sunday.

Drinking water

Free water points, fountains and roaming distribution stations are spread throughout the venue to refill your 50 cl bottle (bring it without the cap).

Medical services

An on-site medical team handles emergencies, with firefighters stationed inside the venue for incident support.

Cloakroom

Store prohibited items, bags and food or drinks at The Cloakroom by the festival entrance. Access your belongings as many times as needed. Also serves as the Lost & Found.

NOS charging points

NOS provides a powerbank service between 16:00 and 02:00 for attendees running low on battery.

Metro Blue Line (A) runs until 02:30. STCP buses (Route 1M) connect the venue to Aliados every 15 mins until 04:00.

Lynx tip: The Metro queue at Matosinhos Sul is insane. Walk 10 mins to the previous stop "Brito Capelo" to catch the train before it fills up with the main crowd.

Allow at least 15 minutes to walk between the Porto Stage and the Vodafone or Super Bock stages during peak hours.

Lynx tip: To move from the main stages to the dance/electronic area, use the small path along the sea-front. It is much faster than the crowded main park thoroughfares.

Doors open at 15:30 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and at 14:00 on Sunday. Arrive 1-2 hours before the first artist to clear security comfortably.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Arrive before 17:00 to skip the main gate rush - the security lane at Parque da Cidade backs up heavily between 18:00 and 20:00. For main-stage headliners, the left slope clears fastest between acts.

Motorbike helmets, travel bags and large bags or backpacks, bottles, cans, sprays and aerosols are forbidden. Also prohibited: laser pointers, professional photography and video equipment, drones, weapons of any kind, xenophobic or call-to-violence messages and any dangerous object. Outside food and drinks in plastic or glass containers are not permitted. Small bags, purses and small backpacks are allowed.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Drop bags at The Cloakroom by the entrance rather than binning anything at the gate. Reusable cups work if they carry 0.25 cl or 0.50 cl markings - unmarked ones get swapped for an official €1 cup at any bar.

Primavera Sound Porto issues tickets digitally through the Fever app. Your QR code appears in the app a few days before the festival. The on-site ticket office at Parque da Cidade handles any issues and remaining sales during the festival.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Download the Fever app and log in at least 48 hours before travel. The QR code only drops a few days before the festival, and some international phones struggle on festival Wi-Fi. Transfer tickets in-app in advance; no name-change is handled at the gate.

Exchange happens in person at the main Parque da Cidade site on your first day of attendance. Opening hours in 2025 were 12:00-02:00 Thursday and Friday, until 03:00 Saturday and until 22:00 Sunday. Confirm schedule before you go. Loose wristbands are never given out.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Exchange early on your arrival day - the queue grows sharply after 17:00. Full-festival pass holders gain nothing by waiting. Get the wristband on Day 1 and skip the gate line for the rest of the weekend.

The official forbidden-items list does not specifically mention power banks. Standard personal-sized power banks are permitted in practice. Professional-grade batteries and large power stations fall under the ban on professional equipment and are prohibited.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Stick to a slim 10,000 mAh model and keep it in your pocket during the search so it reads as a personal device. Anything rigid, boxy or oversized draws a second look. If in doubt, leave it at The Cloakroom at the entrance.

Yes. Your wristband allows unlimited re-entry until the daily cut-off. Expected cut-offs follow the 2025 pattern: 02:00 Thursday and Friday, 03:00 Saturday and 22:00 Sunday. After the cut-off, exit is allowed but re-entry is not.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Plan your re-entry buffer around the cut-off, not the headliner. Metro Blue Line (toward Matosinhos) and STCP line 502 from Bolhão handle the return smoothly.

Porto in June averages daytime highs of 22-24 °C and nighttime lows of 14-15 °C, with low rainfall. The venue sits next to the Atlantic, so evenings are cooler and windier than inland Portugal. Bring sunscreen for the day and a jacket for the evening.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Porto in June is not Lisbon in July - the Atlantic wind through Parque da Cidade drops the real-feel temperature fast after 21:00. The park is genuinely exposed. A hoodie and long trousers for late slots are non-negotiable. Sunburn before 16:00 is still easy to get.

More than 40 food options are spread across the venue, including Portuguese petiscos, burgers, pizza, international street food and vegetarian choices.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: The petiscos stalls are the best-value eating on site and much quieter than the burger or pizza queues between 20:00 and 22:00.

One soft plastic bottle up to 50 cl is allowed. The cap must be removed at security. Free drinkable water is available throughout the venue from fountains and ambulant water points.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Unlike most festivals, Primavera Sound Porto requires the cap off, not on. Bring an empty soft bottle and fill it inside to skip the rule entirely. Metal, glass and rigid bottles are confiscated at the gate with no exception.

No. Outside food and drinks in plastic or glass containers are forbidden. Items can be stored at The Cloakroom at the entrance and accessed each time you leave the venue. For medical reasons, a certificate must be presented at entry.

Lynx tip: Lynx tip: Time your re-entry around a meal in central Porto - Metro and STCP buses make the round trip feasible in under an hour. For medical exceptions, carry the certificate on you, not buried in a cloakroom bag.

Accessibility

Accessible transport

Public transport serving the venue is fully accessible, with no barriers between stops and entrances.

Free companion

One free companion is permitted when stated in official documentation (e.g. Disability Certificate, Blue Badge, Carte Mobilité Inclusion). Both must enter together; the companion must remain the same throughout the event.

Elevated viewing platforms

Elevated platforms for people with reduced mobility are available at all stages. Access requires a medical certificate, presented to security staff on the day.

Adapted toilets

All toilet blocks include at least one accessible toilet.

Priority entry

A dedicated fast-track entry lane for people with reduced mobility is available at the general entrance.

Accessible venue map

An accessible venue map is available in the official festival app and displayed at multiple points throughout the venue.

On-site support team

A support team is available on arrival for information and assistance. Wristbands are exchanged in person - location and schedule will be communicated closer to the festival.

Inclusivity

LGBTQ inclusive

Primavera Sound Porto is strongly LGBTQ+ inclusive. It belongs to the first festival group worldwide with the Queer Destinations Committed distinction. The Nobody is Normal protocol targets queerphobia and gender-based violence, with trained staff across the venue. The festival partners with Kosmicare for on-site support.
