Coala Festival is a Brazilian-born music event focused on Portuguese-language artists from Brazil, Portugal and lusophone Africa. Its third Portuguese edition runs on 30 and 31 May 2026 at the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo in Cascais. The organisers transform the ten-hectare site into what they call an 'oásis cultural', threading minimalist scenography with plant elements.
The pace stays calm rather than frenzied. You move through ten hectares of green grounds where gastronomy, art and wellness zones spread between the stages, with music running from 16:00 to midnight. The crowd tends to mirror the programming: Cascais and Lisbon locals, Portuguese and Brazilian expats and lusophone visitors. Generations mix freely between veteran headliners and newer acts.
Most Portuguese summer festivals (NOS Alive, MEO Sudoeste, Super Bock Super Rock) build their headline tier around international touring acts, predominantly anglophone. Coala inverts that map. Its programming runs entirely on the Brazil-Portugal-Africa lusophone triangle, threading Brazilian popular music legends like Maria Bethânia through newer Brazilian acts, Portuguese rap and Angolan and Cape Verdean voices.
